Strike out with information... don't spare the details!
(By Timothy A. Sawyer)
In this newsletter, I am going to take an opportunity to share with you some of my experiences over the last month. This has been a very monumental month for me. So I may digress, and I apologize in advance but I hope that the message to you is loud and clear.
Those familiar with U.S. History recall the words spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 ; “I have a dream…”. We all have dreams and goals. Some of them are lofty dreams ; dreams of winning the lottery, getting that nice house by the lake or that new car, dreams of getting that promotion. We all have them.
When I started bowling some 26 years ago, I would sometimes watch the Saturday telecast of the PBA Finals. I’ve seen the great ones of the past like Earl Anthony, Dick Weber and Mark Roth to name a few. My dream back then was to become a member of the PBA. In 1997 I could actually realize that dream, but since I was going through a job change and a cross – country move I decided at that point to not put in the paperwork.
Since that point, I have been working toward the goal of qualifying for the PBA. In December, I put in my application and just a couple of weeks ago, I received my PBA card in the mail. So now I am proud to say that I am a member of the PBA. On that note, I will be bowling in the U.S. Open next month in North Brunswick, NJ. That brings up some other dreams and goals, but we won’t get into those right now. Besides, I think you can figure it out.
So what is the bottom line? Dreams and goals can be accomplished. They may require some work and preparation, but they can be accomplished. Do you have goals? Do you have dreams? Go after them. With some work and preparation, they can be accomplished.
